“Boondocks” creator McGruder to speak

Aaron McGruder, creator of the comic strip “The Boondocks,” will discuss issues of race, diversity, and American culture in an upcoming talk, “What’s the Color of Funny? Race, Society, and Comic Strips,” to take place on Tuesday, February 4. “The Boondocks” combines childhood antics, satire, and a love of hip-hop in the story of a group of African American kids who have been removed from their inner city Chicago home to white suburbia. Oftentimes biting in their commentary, McGruder’s reflections on
a diverse culture have turned into an entertaining, controversial, and thought-provoking national hit.
